I quite like Pete Well's position against Nepomniachtchi but I'd feel more confident if he had more time on the clock - at least there's a 30sec increment

Does Peter Wells have enough play for the exchange?

Well, to me it looks like a clear edge (for Wells) but that's just a superficial view - I'm not really calculating too many variations

yes, it looks to have gone wrong in the last few moves before the time control - I have a feeling Black was doing well though and 37..a5!? looks a good place to start - Black must be better there.

Anyone have an idea about Luke's position?

Luke is somewhere between += and +/- I suspect.

Not sure about Ian's knight sac against Pete - surely there was something easier. I'm struggling to see the win here but maybe I'm just missing something!

He must have missed the ...Rf5 defence. Just drawn now yeah, interesting game.

Roger - I don't know but I will ask.Roger de Coverly wrote:Looking at the pictures on chessbase http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=7105, the room layout looks much like a typical e2e4 event at Denham or Sunningdale, so not obviously tight for space.David Sedgwick wrote: Sean, are they any facilities for spectators (screens, commentary, etc) at Aix-les-Bains?
And what happens if players want to have a post-mortem? Do they have to leave the "playing venue" to analyse, thus rendering themselves unable to go back and follow games still in progress?
So does this initiative come from the local organisers or chief arbiter, the FFE, or more worryingly ECU or FIDE?
You might, or perhaps should, seal off the top boards. If you've got two French 1800 players playing each other, why prevent their friends coming to watch?

He just needs a win to get him going. He'll be fine once he gets to the 2700s, it's just getting thereMike W. Richardt wrote:Luke has drawn his game!!!Thomas Rendle wrote:in fact it just looks drawn
