November FIDE Rating List
The latest list is out and the top end is, as anticipated, completely wrong.

Re: November FIDE Rating List
Just at a glance, erigaisi supposed to be breaking into the 2800 club, the list is showing him as losing 23 points instead?
The thing that is more surprising here is not the fide list being dodgy but it being nick who pointed it out, i thought he was firmly in their pocket.

Re: November FIDE Rating List
The huge error is caused by Fide claiming that Erigaisi played three classical games against every opponent in the WR Masters, and that he lost all the mythical third games (!!) including to Bodhana (!!).Joey Stewart wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 12:54 pmJust at a glance, erigaisi supposed to be breaking into the 2800 club, the list is showing him as losing 23 points instead?
Of course that only actually occurred in the final against MVL, and that was Armageddon not classical.
A massive mistake, let's see how long Fide takes to correct it.

Re: November FIDE Rating List
It looks like the error in Abdusattrov's rating is from the same event too. It might be FIDE tell us the data was submitted incorrectly.

Re: November FIDE Rating List
As Leonard mentioned the WR Masters has added an additional game for each player in each round they played, and even worse they have all been counted as a loss
Erigasi lost 29 points from this
Lagrave lost 20 points from this
(added for Paul) Abdusattorov lost 14.3 points from the error
Even Shreyas for his one round lost to Anand lost 2.1 points extra

Re: November FIDE Rating List
It's recorded by FIDE as coming under England. Did the ECF submit the results for rating or was it the organisers directly to FIDE? It hasn't appeared on the ECF national rating site.Leonard Barden wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 1:07 pmA massive mistake, let's see how long Fide takes to correct it.

Re: November FIDE Rating List
This is a known bug in FRS. The worst you might say is that someone in England could have been aware of that and circumvented it, but that would be unreasonable to expect.
The error was in clear view in the provisional ( pre-publication ) calculations. In times gone by I would have warned FIDE, but I can't be bothered any more. I don't suppose they would have read the message anyway.

November ratings now taken down. I wouldn't be surprised if someone's attention was drawn to this forum - that has happened before.

Clearly not in FIDE's pocket. Although Joey was being clumsy, he may have meant to say you (unlike most people here) have (and do) work with FIDE and on their committees, and you are willing to comment openly, which is always appreciated.NickFaulks wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 1:47 pmThis is a known bug in FRS. It is an embarrassing error. Who would have been responsible on the tournament side for checking the submission, the arbiter or the organiser or both?

We all know what he meant to say. He said it and I am sure his view is shared by some other regular posters on this forum.Christopher Kreuzer wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 8:52 amAlthough Joey was being clumsy, he may have meant to say
As I said, you really can't point the finger of blame in that direction. FIDE have known about this bug for years and have shown no interest in fixing it. Perhaps now they will.It is an embarrassing error. Who would have been responsible on the tournament side for checking the submission, the arbiter or the organiser or both?
