Anyone got any theories about Gormally-Kosten? I suppose 17...dxc3 loses to 18 Nf6+ Nxf6 19 exf6 Bxf6 20 Be4; is that the idea?

Edit. Or 20 Re4, presumably. And I suppose 19 Re4 is the answer to 18...Bxf6 - maybe it's just mate?

I don't see anything better than taking the perpetual after 17...f5.

edit: unless 18. Nxd5 is something, with some idea of Nf6+ and Bxd5 to follow, but not sure it's working. Tony played 17..Re8 anyway, which I can't crack either...

Well hawkins got out with a draw - what has happened to Terry chapman lately, I remember him being a fairly steady 2200 but now he seems to have suddenly got alot stronger.

Something like that, the geometry seems to make sense but I still can't work it out, feeling a bit slow this afternoon!

What's going on in Eames-Ward? It's far from clear to me Chris has enough/any compensation for his various material losses.

Not so sure; there's been a worrying pause in developments. This ...Re8 is the sort of thing a chap could have overlooked a few moves back when the e-file was full of pieces.

Andrew Martins 'sidekick' mentioned the computer just after the bishop sack and said it wasn't good enough at least objectively, I haven't looked with an engine, although it is kind of obvious from that point, that it would cause some practical problems to solve regardless of how sound it was

Something's gone wrong with my live board in Arkell-Shaw. I'd guess Keith thinks what's happened is progress - time to put the rook on a2 and meander back to the kingside with the king. Spread of .75 to 0.80? Bit low, perhaps.

My live board also shows Pete W losing on time on move 18. That couldn't be true - could it?!

Objectively, does Keith actually have any advantage at all? If I just play f7-f5, where is the winning plan?

Having said that, defending this against Keith is my idea of hell. Spread on the move he'll play f2-f3: 52-56?
