Short's game may well end drawn shortly. Don't think he can hold on to the g-pawn.

You really are confirming the stereotype of a geeky chessplayers. Why don't you go out and get a life instead of posting on whether a person has one letter wrong?

Just need Gawain to avoid any cheapos in the complications and Pert to hold a level ending, and England have a huge win :)

Tiny bit optimistic I think, Pert should draw but has a bit of work left to do I think

Gawain's got the win. All down to NP now.

yes, it will be something of a wait, at best. A passed a-pawn for White and a chronic weakness on h6, hmm...

Anyway, a superb demonstration of temperament from Gawain. It would seem that the selectors will not be debating long and hard next year as to the board order between Gawain and David Howell. And (remembering too his other performances for England) it may be that we have three players who should play every match if available and fit, leaving just a daily decision to be made between Howell and Pert.

This is the kind of position Nick wins all the time when he's the one pressing, it looks really unpleasant. Probably overestimated Nigel's position, was always going to be hard to win but still very unimpressive with White by Movsesian.

And at the Emirates ..

Not to mention victory over Italy for our women: wins from our two IMs, a draw from Kanwal and Maria is presumably still playing.

The tournament site doesn't have it.

It (was) here: http://euro2011.chessdom.com/etcc-2011- ... n-section/, but the transmission seems to have died.

Well, the transmission returned, but I'd rather it didn't. :(
