Chess and Multiple Sclerosis

Post by Trefor Owens » Fri Sep 10, 2010 10:34 am

Sittingbourne Branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society is extremely pleased to announce that Grandmaster John Emms has kindly agreed to play 30 opponents in a Simultaneous Chess Display – the event will raise awareness and funds for local people suffering from this disease, will help to promote chess in the town and promises to be FUN.

Sittingbourne Community College has kindly donated a hall for the venue and the ECF has given me 30 chess sets on loan for the event. Sincere thanks to both of them.

Now all we need are 30 chess enthusiasts who would like to play GM Emms and help a local charity and promote chess at the same time.

I have of course contacted local schools and expect the 30 places to go quite quickly.

If you can help support Multiple Sclerosis and Chess by:

Playing in the simul.
Sponsoring someone to play either personally or through your company.
Donating to MS
Helping in any other way

Please contact me either here or email

The Chess Simultaneous Event is being held in Sittingbourne on
Saturday 16th October
