I found it interesting to read today that the ECF is closing, the staff are all working remote and the registered office address is being moved to Birmingham.

No notice on the ECF website about the new registered office address - 3 Bear Hill, Alvechurch, Birmingham, Worcestershire B48 7JX

Does anyone know why this address has been chosen as it seems to be a residential address?

I can't see any link to any known chess players at this address, just another registered company (sole shareholder - not a known chess person to me, so I don't want to mention their name or company name on here - you can Google for yourselves).

Would be good to get some clarity on this governance matter from the ECF?

Does anyone know why this address has been chosen as it seems to be a residential address?

There was an email to ECF members about this. My guess would be that it's some form of postal receipt service as the Google search suggests a number of Companies using it.

Was a plan to turn the ECF virtual mentioned at the AGMs or Finance meetings over the last year?

If you do a search on that address one of the results is Engage Accountancy. It's not uncommon for companies to set their registered address to that of their accountants, so that may well be the explanation.

Ah, that sounds a bit more run of the mill. Clearly I didn't delve deep enough with my search.

I trust Alvechurch is sufficiently distant from the city of Birmingham that it is not affected by the 17,000 tonnes of rubbish which, according to BBC News, is awaiting collection.

Alvechurch is covered by Bromsgrove District Council and therefore is not in bin crisis.

Redditch Chess Club play at the Alvechurch Cricket Club during the winter season (September-April), as well as having the Alvechurch Library host it's junior club on Saturday mornings.

Our Club nights in the Summer period move back to a pub in Redditch some time in May when the cricket club finds it light enough to resume their training in the evenings.
