ECF Grassroots Support Initiative

Post by Paul Cooksey » Wed Aug 14, 2024 10:39 am

I'm preparing for the Berks AGM. I think the Grassroots support initiative - 10k for each of 9 geographic regions - is one of the most notable changes.

Has anyone here submitted an application?

Other ECF activity makes it two steps forwards and one back. The additional entry fee required for non-members and league only members to enter a Congress, perhaps their first, has increased substantially. That's if Congresses don't put up the barriers to new participation by declaring "members only".

It's being coordinated in the NW by Richard Walsh (Lancs) and the NE by Andy Wainwright (Yorks) but I am not aware it has yet got to application stage

I was happy to hear at the ECF meeting we will hear about the first wave of grants in a month or so.

Hampshire Junior Chess Association benefitted by purchasing a tranche of DGT 2500 timers and flight cases. Thanks to the ECF, DGT and Chess & Bridge:

This was a great offer and the HCA also took the opportunity for 25 clocks and 5 cases (will make lugging the clocks up the staircase at the HCA congress much easier!).

I remember the above display being a prize on Bullseye, the runner-up won a speedboat and came from Northampton.
