You mean it thought the extra knight was worth something?
Ah, not another of those endings that computers still can't "rate" properly?

2-2 in both matches.
Lichess was telling me at one point that the Women's team had lost. Lan Yao was lucky to get a draw there.
I prefer to give her a bit of credit for fighting on, trying and succeeding in saving the match for her team.

Absolutely. Just pointing out that she was lost at one point, but it was absolutely the right thing to do to sacrifice the piece for activity, and it paid off handsomely.

Only one rest day in this tournament, between rounds 5 and 6.

Harriet Hunt and Ravi Haria rested today for round 4.

This means that Lan Yao (board 2) and Nikita Vitiugov (board 1) are playing their fourth game in a row.

The early joint leaders, Poland and Germany have managed to win three matches by the narrowest possible margin.

Anyone want to predict if one of them will do this again, or a quick 2-2 draw?

(I know round 4 has already started, not checked yet.)

Interesting material balance on board 1 on the top match, where Keymer has a queen for three pieces.

No idea what is going on in the England Open games, other than Adams has drawn.

And Lan Yao has a crazy position (worth posting). (What a swindle!)

A dramatic point swing in the Belenkaya-Lan Yao puts our women one ahead, Akshaya has drawn so just the two whites left.

Belenkaya had a forced win with 30.bxc6 Bxc6 31.Bxc6 dxc6 32.Rc4!!

Quite a turnaround - Lan Yao seems to have many rabbits in her hat
