Apart from players not wishing to play in that even again, what is the penalty imposed by the ECF on such events?

I should make it clear that that was not a list of events that have advertised that they will be graded this year. Some of them have. Others have advertised themselves with no promise of grading, and some have probably not advertised themselves at all.

It was a list I sent to graders in an attempt not to miss anything. I have ideas about which of those events are likely to be graded, but being sure is harder than you might think. Some will not have happened at all. Some have appeared in the ECF Calendar, with or without the “will be graded” marker - which is unreliable, as I remarked the other day in another thread. Others have not appeared in the Calendar at all, but congresses do happen, and get graded, without exciting the attention of the Calendar. The most I can say is that all of those events have been in the Calendar this year, or have been graded in the recent past.

Sometimes, inevitably, a congress will advertise grading and then not send its results. The reasons vary. “We lost the pairing cards” (or “The pairing cards got lost in the post between us and the grader”) isn’t unknown, but there have been other causes. Sanctions aren’t my business, but I’m not aware that the ECF has ever imposed one.

I've been told that Braintree didn't run, so that can be crossed off the ourstanding list.

The Warwickshire Open and Staffordshire Congress will be done by Dave Thomas. He'll do them at the same time that he does the Birmingham League grading. It wouldn't surprise me if the Walsall Rapidplay is done by him too.

Bourne End Congress March and Bourne End quickplay April are the same event. It's run the weekend before Easter so it moves round the calendar with Easter.

On past experience, the grading data will be submitted alongside the Bucks league and individual results. It's the county AGM on Wednesday so that can be clarified.

The Nottingham Rapidplay and Congress both took place. It's a safe bet that Rob Richmond will pass the results on - he always has in the past.
