Re: ECF Website
You're right. I was attempting to view the calendar, and it stopped working.
The office staff will be home for Christmas too...
The hosting is being migrated from a US server to a UK server, so hopefully the downtime is nothing more than that switch, although you'd think there were better times to do it.

The hosting migration is not happening for a while : we've only just decided where to move it to.Alex Holowczak wrote:

A web site that actually works when you attempt to connect to it would be a novel idea

Re: ECF Website
Someone in the "Hey Joes" hosting outfit needs to restart the MySQL backend. It might have run out of database connections due to flaky PHP code in their somewhere.Carl Hibbard wrote:A web site that actually works when you attempt to connect to it would be a novel idea
This is very frustrating for the office and yet another reason for the migration.
Hopefully service will be resumed by Monday.

Re: ECF Website
It would be far better for the ECF to run their own server with full shell accessJohn Upham wrote:This is very frustrating for the office and yet another reason for the migration.
Registration, DNS and server hosting should all be separate
Cheers

For your amusement, here is a picture of "the server room" at "Hosting at Joes"
I've seen appalling set-ups in my time but this one.....

I've made these points to the Manager of IT and they have been taken on board.Carl Hibbard wrote:It would be far better for the ECF to run their own server with full shell accessJohn Upham wrote:This is very frustrating for the office and yet another reason for the migration.

I'm hoping we can resolve this situation this month.
