Sure, but in practice how confident are we going to be about advancing them against the heavy pieces?

Adams is giving a demonstration of how to do this. With an intact pawn chain, there aren't any real threats to the White King.

I played him in 2011 in Benasque. Remember him as the politest opponent I’ve ever had. He duffed me up in 18 moves. the whole game taking about 75 minutes. He was still an FM - albeit 2470+ - at the time.

I’ve kept an eye out for his games and results ever since as it was obvious he was going places. Even so it’s been quite some improvement since his game with me. Lesson for the chess world: association doesn’t equal causation.

I found a game where Jim Plaskett gave it a punt, but he took on c3 before the Knight moved away. Engines seem quite relaxed about it.
