The Gunina/Chessbase game

Post by Jonathan Rogers » Mon Dec 19, 2016 11:53 am

So, after Valentina Gunina's remarkable triumph in the Classic rapidplay, there must be an extensive Chessbase report.

When it comes, how many photos of the winner will there be?

I will go for five. Anyone willing to go higher?

It was four (including one embedded from a Twitter quote), so close, but maybe another (more in-depth) report to come?

By a curious coincidence, the January 2017 edition of Chess features Danny King's annotations on one of her games in his "How Good is Your Chess ?" article. It's her game against Papp from the European Team 2015. It's a line of the Grunfeld where White sets up a "Draughts" structure with pawns on c3, d4, e3, f2, g3 and h2. Usually the Knight goes to e2, but it went to h3 instead. This enabled f4 and Nf2. To complete the picture, the King stayed in the centre and the h pawn trundled forward to open lines against the King.
