Learning how to use ChessBase

Apologies for, unbeknownst to myself, talking nonsense.

I'd be interested in buying Chessbase, but was always put off by all the talk of it being hard to get to grips with and their being no proper manual to help out.

I'm curious now, though. If there's a 300-page manual, what the difference between that and the book that's been reviewed on the Chessbase website?

I'm using Chessbase 9, which does have a manual in the box. The PDF that you can get a printout of will probably be more comprehensive than Edwards' book. I also was not aware that there was a PDF available. It will doubtless be dry reading whereas Edwards explains with concrete and personal examples how to use CB12. I suspect the two will complement each other.
