I've won 3 in a row, and we have a Wales vs Ireland battle in the U18s.
Venetia our highest scorer is on 7/9 half a point behind the leaders.

7/9, you don't see that every year from a british player in any of these numerous world/european youth type events ...

Nothing so memorable from any of the English players, though I notice one player, whose name is unfamiliar to me, who is surely doing very well so far - Kumar Dixit.

The team scored 10/24 in round eleven. Congratulations to our highest scoring player Akshaya (U12 Girls) who scored 7.5/11.

As ever,one question which needs to be considered is whether the experience of this sort of event is worth the expense and almost inevitable sacrifrice of rating points. As usual, most lost points, some lost very many, and only Andrew Horton and Kumar Dixit emerged clearly ahead (with encouraging performances for Daniel Abbas and Joshua Higgs too, but are even their Elo gains truly worthwhile?)

I would like to add my personal thanks to Isabel Keen whose efforts as Head of Delegation were absolutely amazing and have been throughout much of 2013. Rarely has a HoD been confronted with so many difficulties and she has put in an extraordinary amount of hours of hard work to ensure the English contingent all got to UAE with the relevant visas and then got their passports back in time to board their flights.
