Re: Edouard Jenay
If you drop the first name (could be multiple spellings) and search Google Books for "Jenay" and "chess", you get several snippets of information, but nothing much about his dates. The sources used for the Wikipedia page might help as well - one of them is a Chess Cafe.com article titled "New Stories about Old Chess Players".James Pratt wrote:An Austrian liberal, 19th Century, Edouard Jenay. From Google Books, I got "In the last tournament of the Vienna Chess Club held last year, the first prize was awarded to the well-known amateur Herr von Jenay" (The Chess Player's Magazine, 1864).
Are you sure there is nothing in Gaige?

Re: Edouard Jenay
His name is listed as Eduard Jenay, in the third edition of Chessplayers & Problemists, by Jeremy Gaige, Philadelphia, 1973. Does not show DOB, or DOD.
