Is there a link anywhere showing the agenda for the AGM next Saturday.

Thank you John. An interesting motion in respect of the content of the nominated Presidents election address. Should keep folk awake. Perhaps those voting in support of that motion will be voting for non of the above for President?

Apologies for dimness. What is the significance of
Proposal to admit Barnstaple Chess Club to membership as an “Other Organisation”.

I suspect that, if the motion is passed, it will be more likely that council will vote for Roger Edwards than might otherwise be the case.

But if its passed will he withdraw? Could we end up with no President and no CEO?

The board has the option (I believe) to appoint a popular GM who has indicated interest in the role. I think I know which outcome I would prefer.

That's a question you'd have to ask Roger. Personally, I would prefer no President that one wanting to pursue the agenda in his election address.

If he did withdraw (or lose to none of the above) there are people out there who could be approached who would be excellent in the ambassadorial role that the President should aspire to be.

There was some additional information in the Worcestershire chess circular regarding some Andrew Farthing comments regarding Stuart Conquest, are these publishable anyone know?

I believe that by being an OO, they can sign a framework agreement, depending on how other votes go on the Council agenda. By being a club, they can't.

To quote the above which are the views of the county of Worcestershire and their representative and not the offical ECF position:

All but one of the elections is uncontested, so the decision is mostly whether to support the candidate or vote for 'Not this candidate'. I support all of the candidates in contested elections, with the possible exception of Roger Edwards (candidate for President). There is an alternative in the wings. GM Stuart Conquest has made it known that he would be willing to serve as President and could be appointed by the Board if Roger were not to be elected.

I asked Roger a question similar to the first one here, and the answer I received was words to the effect of 'no' .

Also,
7.4.1- has the Director of Finance produced a report?
And should 7.4.2 even be on the agenda?

On the subject of directors' having produced reports: I apologise for not having produced mine. I have ongoing problems with depression and epilepsy, and haven't been able to summon up the emotional strength to write one.

Sorry to read that Jack. You take care and do you really want to put yourself through another year as an official? If you do I am sure council will support you. :) I really hope the Oxford educated prat with his acerbic wit does not feel the need to bring you into another one of his ridiculous diatribes.
