English GMs Michael Adams, David Howell and Keith Arkell are all playing in the world championship qualifier. After the eleventh and final round David finished on 7.5, Michael 7 and Keith 6. At the time of writing, I believe David will be involved in a tie-break play off for the world championship qualifying places. His performance over the eleven games was 2642 and he finished equal eleventh with 29 other players. A superb effort for the 80th seed! Michael lost in round 10 and despite a last round win he finished half a point off the play off places. His tournament performance was 2691.

Sadly David lost 1.5-0.5 to GM David Navara in the first round of the play-offs. He can still be very proud of his performance though.
