I am sorry to inform you that another of Olton Chess Clubs' members has sadly died.
Richard Smith passed away on Friday 29th July, after a long illness.
He joined the club in 2007, when he started work in the Birmingham area and had recently retired. He was a regular player in the first team and contributed to the success of the team over many years.
Thoughts are with Richard's family and Olton Chess Club members at this sad and difficult time.
There is a tribute and picture on the Olton Chess Club website in the news section.

Re: Richard Smith
Very sorry to hear this shocking news. I played Richard several times in Kenilworth v Olton matches over the last decade or more, and he was always a really nice guy before, during and after the games. Its a great sadness to hear of his passing at what must have been a relatively early age. Condolences to his family and club mates.
