Seven years ago. I read this at the time but don't remember it saying very much.

"A subcommittee of multi-disciplinary experts"
...although we do not appear to know their names, in what disciplines they are expert, or how expert they are.

"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

That was also my first thought. Always the way ( and if the USCF website reveals their identities, I can't find that ).JustinHorton wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 8:20 pm"A subcommittee of multi-disciplinary experts"

If a player had a strong trainer and a good memory, a game could show pre game assistance from a higher rated player and still be completely legitimate. Unless the Regan program is continuously updated with all known theory, that also applies to "book" moves. The subcommittee also went on to note that Dr. Regan’s approach, unlike others, can also detect non-computer aided violations, adding: “Because his method compares the move selection distribution of a player to the expected distribution for players of that rating, it can potentially detect assistance from higher rated players.”
Known theory is getting stranger all the time, particularly with increased publication of online games. The line 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. a4 can be found in the latest New in Chess.

I was surprised to see one of my players trying 4 Rb1 in the online 4ncl. It wasn't too successful.Roger de Coverly wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 8:42 pmIf a player had a strong trainer and a good memory, a game could show pre game assistance from a higher rated player and still be completely legitimate.
