I pointed out Dorrington-Dorrington to Dave Clayton (it's Dorrington-Freeman really). While changing that, he made the discovery that five of the boards aren't responding...

Well, then nothing because Pert didn't play it, but my Sadler, The Semi-Slav (Chess Press, 1998) gives 9.c5! Bc7 10.e4 and Black is going to be able to play neither of his breaks.

I see what you mean Justin. Black's bishop on c8 is going to really struggle to find a way out in that line.

I mean it's not a win-a-piece type trap, but you do end up with a horrid position. I found myself on the wrong end of it in a quickplay game against an IM a few years ago. Might have been the last quickplay I played, come to think of it.

Jack seems to have taken all of five minutes (plus increments) to get to there.

Yikes - he missed the mate. It was all forced - 21. ... Kxh7 22. Qh5+ Qh6 23. Qxh6 Kxh6 24. Rf3 Rf5 25. Rh3+ Rh5 26. f5+ Kh7 27. Rxh5#

He still won a few moves later. Jack looks like a shoo-in for the Championship now.
