I don't see the next move after ...Qe7! Still looks v good, but I think 32 Ng5 was the way to go.

one can almost sense that action is suspended on board three and four while the players on those boards too are trying to assess the position on board one

Oh dear. After 36. Qxg3 the position seems level.

No, I like Qg3, threat is Rh6+ so probably Adams did have it under control all along

Looks like there should be a win after Qxg3 Qf7 (only move?), but I can't see it.

Ok, Bd1 controlling h5 is a very nice quiet move...

37.Qf3 Rxg6 38.Bxf5 Ng7 39.Bc2 does the job.Jonathan Rogers wrote:qed, but what was the win after 36.Qg3 Nh5 ?

Good question, but 37. Qf3 seems to force 37...Ng7 at least.Jonathan Rogers wrote:qed, but what was the win after 36.Qg3 Nh5 ?

Ok, thanks Ian.
Well, that looks like an England win then. An excellent all-round performance - perhaps the rest day helped, though some will doubtless say (e.g on Chessbase) that Carlsen's opening choice helped too!
Jones is looking very reliable on 4, so continued selection dilemmas for Loz

Great win by Micky Adams on board one - didn't expect that today as I thought Magnus would have too much on him. Goes to show even geniuses have their off day although don't want to take anything away from Micky. Lets hope Luke and Gawain can now bring the bacon home.
Think,check and then Move !!
