White against Romania for the open team and black against Azerbaijan for the women to finish with, round 9 starts four hours earlier tomorrow.
Re: European Team Championship 13-22 November 2015
After Michael Adams' loss today, as far as I can see (on chess-results) the highest rating performance by an English player is that by Jovanka Houska, with a very impressive 2706. Ok, mostly by beating up weaker players, but still.

I cant seem to find the board prize leaderboards on the site - though I guess Jovi must be in with a good shout?
Anyone else found them?

Here; and there is also a board by board version and by ELO performance; this seems to be the German version, for some reason (stupidity probably) I can't seem to get the English language version.Paul Dargan wrote:I cant seem to find the board prize leaderboards on the site - though I guess Jovi must be in with a good shout?

I notice, despite all the doomsaying, that the women's team have a net positive W-We.

Congratulations to Scotland on their win over Kosovo.
Does anyone know if Hungary will win gold if they beat Russia in the last round?
Good luck to both England teams for the last round.

Re: European Team Championship 13-22 November 2015
I think Jovanka is second on rating performance and Gawain has quite a few above him, led by Jakovenko7.1 The players who achieved the best performance rating on their respective boards shall receive gold medals. Silver and bronze medals shall be awarded to the second and third place winners.
7.2 For this purpose the player’s performance score is calculated if the player takes part in at least 70% of the rounds (for basic players) or 50% of the rounds (for reserve players).
The highest performance rating wins. In case of a tie it shall be broken by:
(a) mutual results (if all played each other);
(b) number of games, the highest number wins;
(c) percentage score, the highest number wins;
(d) final ranking of a team, the player in the highest ranked team wins.
For calculating of performance rating the maximum rating difference of two players shall be 400 points. In the case of unplayed games for all calculations the current FIDE Tournament Rules shall be applied.

All four England boards in the Open team have less than 0.05 in them, according to SF!
But Grischuk v Rapport really does demand attention already.

Kosteniuk-Paehtz is also rather wild although no doubt it's a position known to at least one of the players: http://etcc2015.com/live-games/womens-section/Jonathan Rogers wrote:All four England boards in the Open team have less than 0.05 in them, according to SF!

Re: European Team Championship 13-22 November 2015
David Howell has drawn, Gawain is worse, Nigel better and Mickey is the one pressing in a roughly equal ending.
Dagne has lost, Jovanka looks like she has to take perpetual, Zivile is struggling whilst Kanwal is probably okay.

7/8 from her rated games is an excellent effort from Jovanka.
