There have been some enforced changes to the entry structure this year, as St Catherine’s has had to reduce the sponsorship.

Nevertheless, the cost of entry still offers outstanding value. I hope you will continue to support us as you have in the past.

Entries are building up nicely. Why not sign up your school?

The northern event deserves support.

Teams of three.

Just a small nudge to everyone to get your entries in. The closing date for the Southern event will be 12th Jan, a way off, but it helps the organisers not to have to deal with last-minute entrants.

The northern event may have to be recalibrated as an online event only. We have always had difficulty populating that side of the championships. I will chat with Alex Holowczak about the best way to take that forward.

Hi Andrew - how is it looking for the northern semi-final? I'm coordinating the Rainow team (NB we are only one team, not two as listed above). Thanks!

Not looking promising at all. We may have to make the northern event online only. Hanging on waiting to see if it picks up. I’m sorry I can’t be more optimistic

Rainow entered one team twice. Check your finances!

Thanks Andrew - it can't be helped! You may not have got this far yet, but do you expect that you would try to keep the team format the same if it was online, or move to one of the lichess formats? And do you think it might also involve a change of date?

(On the entry front - I think the issue was that I tried to enter without having the right payment card to hand - it must have 'accepted' the first entry anyway even though I didn't pay for it. So I think I've only paid once. If I'm wrong about that, consider it a donation!)

We are heading for a record turnout at the Southern event with 85 teams currently entered. Fantasic!

The closing date for entries is nominally Jan 12th, but I am not sure if we can take more than 100 teams. A sheer question of space!

To avoid disappointment, enter as soon as you can.

Now 98 entries. If and when we get past 100 a reserve list will be created. Don’t let that put you off entering , as a team or teams have pulled out in the past for all manner of reasons; mostly illness.

I will do my best to find a solution for the reserve teams with no promises.

Hi Andrew - is there any more clarity on what's likely to happen with the northern semi final?

Without entries, there cannot be a tournament. Will make a final decision very early in the New Year. Still time to switch to the south. I have made space and can take up to 102 teams; now at 98.

Thanks Andrew - I don't have visibility of the entries. Unfortunately the logistics of the southern event are not feasible for us.
