I have to report the sad news that Terry Turner passed away last month.
Terry grew up in Norfolk and played for the county first team. Later, he moved to Hertfordshire and played for the Hoddesdon and Powdermill Clubs. He moved back to Norfolk to retire and played for Diss until the club folded, and then Norfolk & Norwich for a few seasons. With white, he habitually opened with 1.b3 which, he once wrote, he had played more than 400 times in his chess career. He was a strong player at his peak (around 190 ECF in old money).
Amusing and thoughtful, and an absolute gentleman. RIP, Terry.

Sad news - "Amusing and thoughtful, and an absolute gentleman. RIP, Terry." sums it up perfectly.
I was surprised to see I last played him 30 years ago.
