Re: Auctions
Thanks for the auction gen, John. Keep them coming.
I found some interesting manuscripts under the category, "Varia". One is a short note from Howard Staunton, 1853-1856, approx., evidently to a printer, asking for an early proof of "the enclosed". It seems to be addressed to someone called "Ley". I don't know of a printer of that name. Levey, Robson and Franklyn were the printers of Curiosities of London, by John Timbs, 1855, which would make sense, as Timbs was a sub-editor of the Illustrated London News, and, in effect, Staunton's superior there, so the latter may have been assisting him with his book. However, it seems to read "Ley", and not "Levey", so I am puzzling over that.

Re: Auctions
It seems to be mostly foreign magazines this time. No Staunton manuscripts.

Re: Auctions
I'll mention auctions with most English language materials from now on and not the foreign language ones.

Re: Auctions
John, I didn't mean that the foreign-language items were not of interest. I was just trying to summarize ...
