Re: Euro 21
I think it is reasonable to suggest the 6 group winners are favourites in their games, especially the ones playing one of the 4 teams that came 3rd in their groups; I'm not expecting any of the games to be very easy though
That leaves Wales v Denmark and Croatia v Spain as more difficult to predict; hopefully Wales will win, and the other may depend on which Spain turns up, although Croatia have tournament pedigree
I think from 8 matches you'd normally get extra time in, say, 3 and penalties in maybe 1; teams conserving energy by avoiding extra time might be likelier to win the event
England would benefit in the longer term by beating Germany on penalties, but shorter term by a clear win in normal time; we've certainly not peaked too early
Finally, I can't resist saying in relation to the thread title, that I'm looking forward to the delayed Euro 2021, especially as some fixtures are as close to me as Leigh Sports Village

They seemed to fold after going 1-0 down.

Re: Euro 21
I thought Wales were on top for the first 25 minutes; they might have won if they had scored then, but once Denmark got the goal, it was fairly easy, especially since the officials were rubbish
Best team won though

Very good. On a similar theme, it's a shame Harry Winks doesn't wear number 40 for Spurs. Maybe next season.Paul Habershon wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 6:29 pmA Czech Republic goal to please golfers - scored by 9 Holes.

A lion has predicted that England will lose to Germany.

Yeah, 2 games, 14 goals, 9 penalties scored and 2 missed. First class entertainment.

Maybe, just maybe, Southgate has a bit more idea what he is doing than some give him credit for.

Yeah I agree. I believe when he first became England manager he visited the NFL in America and learned about their attention to detail. He went to watch a couple of Superbowls.Matt Mackenzie wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 7:25 pmMaybe, just maybe, Southgate has a bit more idea what he is doing than some give him credit for.

I thought England played poorly today. Germany could have upped their game and won.

England improved when Jack Grealish was brought on.

Yeah, an inspired substitution who turned the game. Seeing us pass back to the goalkeeper so much was rather disappointing, it made our play very stop-start.

Yeah. I think Ukraine will try to exploit that, much like Iceland did a few years ago.
