It is close to 100% as far as serious illness/death is concerned.

Strange he didn't report taking a Covid test or visiting a doctor at any point in his account.JustinHorton wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 6:11 amThis is an account of what it's like to contract and live with long covid. Scotland’s chief medical officer said a week ago it was too early to know if the vaccines would have any impact on long covid.

The only other information I can see so far is that there are some anecdotal accounts this week in the press that taking the vaccine provides a relief of symptoms in some long covid sufferers.

My point is that I would advise someone who thinks they might be having a stroke to ring 999, not look up long Covid on Facebook, take a quack remedy and write a blog about it. As a further point I would say anyone spreading this stuff is totally irresponsible. Now what is your point.JustinHorton wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 10:56 amI am not getting your point hereMatthew Turner wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 9:03 amStrange he didn't report taking a Covid test or visiting a doctor at any point in his account.JustinHorton wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 6:11 am

Well there's a few, one of which is that you are talking about somebody who died a couple of weeks ago, somebody about whom you know nothing, and maybe you should think about your tone before mouthing off.

Let hope he didn't die of a stroke because he didn't seek the appropriate medical advice after reading rubbish spread by idiots.JustinHorton wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 11:19 amWell there's a few, one of which is that you are talking about somebody who died a couple of weeks ago, somebody about whom you know nothing, and maybe you should think about your tone before mouthing off.

Re: (Chess) Life Returning To Normal
I knew Ed Rooksby via social media for about fifteen years before his death and he was as thoughtful and intelligent a human being as you could come to come across.
The contrast with somebody who prefers to yap ignorantly and inappropriately is extreme. But it's the good who die young.

Justin,
It is my view that people who are ill should seek advice from medical experts. I'm sorry that you think that is an extreme or ignorant view, but I'll stick with it for now.

It's my view that you don't have the faintest idea from that piece how many doctors Ed Rooksby saw over the several months of his illness, that this hasn't stopped you weighing in with your ill-considered opinions expressed in an inappropriate manner, and that this is a thoroughly ignorant way to behave. I have reported some of your comments and can I suggest you reflect on your approach before adding to them. Speaking personally I will absolutely block you if you persist.

Please post links showing how Mr. Rooksby sought the appropriate medical treatment, that will be more useful to those going through similar things. Pieces advocating quackery are not.JustinHorton wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 11:43 amIt's my view that you don't have the faintest idea from that piece how many doctors Ed Rooksby saw over the several months of his illness, that this hasn't stopped you weighing in with your ill-considered opinions expressed in an inappropriate manner, and that this is a thoroughly ignorant way to behave. OK, that's Matthew blocked. Or on my "foes" list, anyway, which has grown recently.
This isn't the sole instance recently of a poster not knowing how to behave with respect to serious subjects, nor of them not knowing when to stop. I would like not to draw generalisations about our community, of which at the end of the day I am a part, from this kind of thing, but it's getting harder.

Re: (Chess) Life Returning To Normal
Having read the blog post, I feel you are being a little harsh on the author. We are all feeling the strain, I think. Recently I know a 34 year old who died from Covid, and several people suffering similar post covid symptoms as the blogger, and they feel almost paranoid that they are going to suddenly get worse and die at any moment. I have heard it described as a panic attack, and even petrification. The blog, rather like Irina Krush's description of her own experiences with covid, is illuminating, pretty objective, and certainly not as dangerous as a lot of the stuff I see posted on Facebook by chess players I thought had more sense.Matthew Turner wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 11:22 amLet hope he didn't die of a stroke because he didn't seek the appropriate medical advice after reading rubbish spread by idiots.JustinHorton wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 11:19 amWell there's a few, one of which is that you are talking about somebody who died a couple of weeks ago, somebody about whom you know nothing, and maybe you should think about your tone before mouthing off.
