Article today on chess.com about the signing of Hikaru in an e-sport team.

This could be the start of a string of signing, including Magnus.
I think it will benefit chess in the long term as it will increase its pull and the number of people trying it (and hopefully sticking to chess).
My only concern is that it may result in promoting streaming-friendly profiles rather than the more introvert ones, and that it will continue the flip towards shorter time controls.

Re: Chess and e-Sport
It might benefit chess but let's be honest: there is only one thing this is about, you know, that thing that makes the world go round, that thing Chomsky claims has diminished courtesy of 'a colossal market failure' left by Covid-19 (19 is a reference to the average age of a US soldier in the Vietnam war). 19 is pronounced na-na-na-na-na-na-na nineteen btw. So it's Covid -na-na-na-na-na-na-na 19, 19, na-na-na-na-na-na 19.

Apologies for that last post, I've been over-doing it with cheesy 80's pop music a bit of late.
