2020 Lindores Abbey Rapid Challenge
This is the next tournament in Magnus's online tour and its another mega event. Feel a bit for Grischuk having come last in the Steinitz Memorial in the very next event his first round is Black v Carlsen. I'm told that Wei Yi v Duda is a bit of a grudge match but I don't know the history.

Re: 2020 Lindores Abbey Rapid Challenge
It was around move 40 that Jan Gustaffson made the amusing comment that if this position appeared in a film we would all be complaining that they should have brought in a technical adviser to ensure that the game looked real.
Peter Leko was asked whether this pawn structure had ever occurred in one of his games and seemed offended that the question might even be considered.

Deliberate, in a hopeless position?

Re: 2020 Lindores Abbey Rapid Challenge
Certainly led to an outburst from Carlsen "I am really pissed that I played so badly today. My good feeling over playing well on Tuesday, is gone now. I am no longer following my intuition. It's frustrating. Completely unacceptable." Meanwhile the Polish PM was congratulating Duda on his win.
There are three rounds left tomorrow then the top 8 will play the knockout stages.

Not the Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, but the President, Andrzej Duda, who was able to state that he was even more proud of Jan-Krzysztof's victory over the world champion because they shared the same surname.Chris Rice wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 11:00 pmMeanwhile the Polish PM was congratulating Duda on his win.

Re: 2020 Lindores Abbey Rapid Challenge
Carlsen loses to Dubov in round 10, now on 5/10, could be eliminated from quarter-finals if he loses to Firouzja in round 11 starting shortly. Not sure to happen, but a real risk.

Sorry, I could not "see below" anything else relevant to the playing rules.Knockout
Consists of Quarterfinals, Semi-Finals and a Final.
All rounds are best-of-3 series of matches: the players play 3 matches (one per day); the player who wins 2 matches advances to the next round.
Each match consists of 4 rapid games. In case of a 2-2 tie an Armageddon game shall be played
Other general rules
Draw offers are not allowed before both players have made 40 moves. This does not apply to Armageddon games.
Time control: 15’ for the entire game + 10” increment from move 1 (except tie-break games; see below)
