Hi Carl.
The wee blue wire sticking out of board two needs to be connected to something.
I can see it from here (Edinburgh) using the Hotel's CC TV.
Please ask Alex to get the Round 5 pgn's posted.
Geoff

I'm just off out to set the fire alarm off so that while the players are being evacuated I can nick the scoresheets and get up to date.

The commentary room is about a zillion yards from the playing area and relies on transcribed moves from the Internet.
I believe that all but board 5 have been restored. That one is proving impossible.
Geoff - the bulletin room is next door to the commentary room and they do the pgn files. Hopefully they will appear soon but Jack Rudd is not his usual self and can therefore only do 6 jobs at the one time instead of the usual 20!!!

Can I reiterate my scepticism that 4...d6 was played on board one?
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Hi.
But Jack's playing, he cannot be expected to do everything - get him a helper.
Nab one of the people wandering about I saw on that video on the Home Page.

Isn't Stephen Gordon an IM? Board 2 shows him as a GM.

Re: Championships Round 6 boards 1-5
The process here is that the runner takes the moves from the internet feeds in the comms room. We retrieved the game as best we could from his sheet and leaning over the players. We can confirm the position as accurate, but the moves may not be in the correct order.JustinHorton wrote:Can I reiterate my scepticism that 4...d6 was played on board one?
Those of you above a certain age may recall a Morecambe and Wise sketch with Andre Preview - Eric played all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.
As soon as the game is over I will key in the moves from the scoresheet of the players. Apologies for the inconvenience.
It's been quite an interesting first day for me so far!

I didn't take it as criticism - and my reply wasn't meant as a put down. It's just my sense of humour (or what I call it).John Moore wrote:Wilf - well done Mate - easy to criticise
I've had a week here controlling the juniors and have filled in today while Dave C has popped home for a couple of days. I'm keen to learn how all this stuff works so that the knowledge base becomes wider.
