Roger of this place and Stephen Homer are really playing quick though, are they double-booked or something?!

We had played the first 13 moves or so in the final round of the Exeter Congress in March and the moves after that are normal for that type of position. Although it looks natural, the plan of 21. .. Ng4 and 22. .. f5 may be wrong and doing nothing or a draw offer a better idea.

I'd been assuming that black was basically dead in that for quite a while. Or was it objectively drawn after horrible suffering? Some of the lower boards still ongoing and definitely interesting.

Agreed. Feel a bit sorry for Fernandez who must feel like he's been beaten up very slowly.


Funnily enough Keith mentioned that exact pawn 4 v 3 pawn structure after our game in Penarth - albeit with a single pair of rooks. Watching at first I wasn't sure if two rooks being on aided White or Black, but it seems like it just made White much more active. The one on a7 doing an awful lot more than the one on f8.

For a truly bizarre experience I can recommend using tripadvisor to check out a country's top nightclub and then going there to watch Keith play a Rook and Pawn ending. I must confess that this is not the first time that I have been amazed by Keith's technique in a nightclub, but it is the first time that everyone else has been playing bingo.
