I've just sent you your very first private message: The text was:

Mary had a lamb, its fleece was white as snow...

and you can practice deleting it with my pleasure!

There seems to be no system where I can delete my old private messages. This just fills up the system unnecessarily. I don't think I have ever sent or received a private one.
Byt why no delete button? Or is it there and I am just being thick?

There is a tick box on the right of your private messages captioned as 'mark' if you have any

Tick that then chose the delete option from the dropdown at the bottom to delete everything you have already then marked
