Seven teams in each age group qualified for the final in April 2023.

U11

1st = Bancroft School A Woodford Green. 12. Winner on tie break
City Junior School A. ( on tie break)
. Putney High
4th = Haberdashers A. 11
North London Collegiate B
Sutton High
7th Latchmere School, Kingston Upon Thames 10.5

U19

1st. North London Collegiate A 11.5
2nd St Paul’s Girls School 11
3rd NLC B. 10.5
4th=. Beaumont School
Denmark Rd
James Allen’s Girls School. 10
7th. SPGS B 9.5

Entry is still open for the Northern semi final to be held at Nottingham High School on November 20th. At present only one qualifying place is available , but if 10 more teams enter in each section, I will bump this up to three places and have a larger final.

Teams who did not qualify from the south can try again in the north. Entry in the usual way via the ECF National Schools webpage:

It was wonderful to see so many keen teams with a total of 250 girls yesterday in Bramley all of whom behaved impeccably.

Arbiting was never so easy!

The venue was tremendous and the support from the school and its staff was amazing.

The event was a huge credit to yourself and St. Catherine's School.

Amusingly enough, the most challenging aspect was not dealing with the children but coping with one or two team managers who hoped to win games for their team players not be letting them play chess but by logging illegal moves from beginners on their busy clipboards!

Amazing to have one team of 250 girls, but to have many of them is incredible!!!

I may have read the post too literally.

80 girl's teams is amazing . l was at St. Catherine's School with girls in 2014, more less than 100 girls l think.
Big congratulations to Andrew Martin and to all of you !! Was Mrs. Director for Women Chess there also ?

No-one "from the ECF" (whatever that means) was either present or part present during the event.

Notably Lorin D'Costa and Nick Pert were managing their teams and Lorin helped to promote

https://www.sheplaystowin.co.uk/ which generated much interest.

Maybe the fact that this was merely one of the semi-finals had something to do with that ...

Some words from Ed Jones who kindly organised the Northern event.

It was a very pleasant day, a few hiccups, when some teams didn’t arrive and others brought more than they said.

We played an all play all in the Under 11s and a Swiss five round tournament in the Under 19s.

Nottingham High won in both age groups.

U19

1st NHS 15
2nd= St Catherine's Bramley, KIng Edward's 8
4th NHS B 7
5th Cotswold A 6
6th Cotswold B 1

U11

1st NHS 7.5
2nd Hallfield 6
3rd NGHS A 4
4th NGHS B 0.5

It is a source of frustration that this event continues to be under-subscribed.

Can you post a reminder of the details of the final so as I can plumb them into my diary?
