English Chess Challenge

Post by Scott Freeman » Wed Sep 30, 2009 12:20 pm

In addition to the Champions' League, we also run the English Chess Challenge. This has expanded this year and we are expecting significant involvement from the Midlands area. As such we are changing the set up of the event which we believe will improve the event for many. Instead of 17 points out of 21 being the qualification threashhold, we are dropping it to 15. Also, the top one third of players in each age group will be qualifying for the next stage rather than just the top player. The players that qualify will now qualify for the semi-finals, but will be totally free to choose which one they attend (albeit they can only attend 1) from which they will aim to qualify for the final. The dates for the semi-finals and finals are still to be set but will be during term time. These changes have been made following conversation with people who felt would be an improvement to the event.

If anyone is interested, we would be pleased to hear from them by email - [email protected]. Web site: www.englishchesschallenge.co.uk
