We're still waiting for reports on Declan's post-mortem skills.
And indeed on whether hats were worn.

The match description gives me a vivid recollection of a rapid game I played about 30 years ago in which my opponent took 8 minutes on the game, a very exciting game in which I had little idea what was happening. My opponent seemed to find tactic after tactic but, unlike the Southbourne game, I just managed to resign before losing on time, material down in a hopeless position.

My opponent was a 16 or 17 year old called Mickey Adams. I also recall getting slaughtered in the brief post-mortem. That appears to be the only difference between the 2 players. We're still waiting for reports on Declan's post-mortem skills.
One of our players is very proud of a draw he got with Mickey Adams. He is prepared to admit that Mickey was 6 at the time...

I'd like to apologise for my post of 14 January, in which I inappropriately disclosed information that had been shared with me in a confidential conversation.

So when and how did you come to the realisation that said conversation was 'confidential'?

I suspect that the answer is confidential.

FWIW, pages 8 and 9 of this thread have posts from 14 January, none from Alex H. Either it is in a different thread or it was removed.

[EDIT: removed as the thread I pointed to was about something else.]

It was there yesterday, but with the content deleted. It has now been removed completely.

My view, for what it's worth, is that we should now let this point go. Alex has apologised for an error of judgment on his part.

Removed I would think, because clicking on the arrow on the post below now results in "The requested topic does not exist.".

Understood. I have edited my second post above as it is not relevant.

Still, FWIW, have just noticed that a post in this thread by Ian Thompson from 14 January at 4:23 pm (compare the timing Ian T points to above) quotes part of what Alex H said, which may have escaped attention. Mentioning it in case more needs to be, um, censored? :?

This all seems to advise against doing the correct thing and apologising for an inappropriate post as it simply draws added attention to it.

I don't.

Alex H was right to retract - even if he won't come clean.
