The World Youth Under 16 Chess Olympiad starts this weekend in Turkey. England are represented by Craig Whitfield, Peter Batchelor, James Holland and Henrik Stepanyan. The official website is http://wyco2011.tsf.org.tr/.

Unless I am missing something when black played 41....Kh6, he could play 41....Rh5, with the threat of Rxh3 and maybe he's got at least a draw

Mmmm ... odd, my display did not have the clocks working, was this a mistake reaching a time control??

Just checked he has a trick with 42. b8=Q, though black earlier could have played Ng4 with a draw by repetition, but it looks like he actually pushed for the win being the higher rated player

An interesting days chess yesterday- disappointing to lose to Armenia 4-0 but the boys gave them a run for their money. Rounds 7 and 8 reports online now.

James won after a horrible blunder by his opponent. James seemed to have a clear advantage out of the opening but let it drift and I was starting to prefer his opponent's position until 32. ... Re5? and 33. ... Qxe5??

Craig managed to win from a dead drawn rook and pawn ending in 109 moves! Perhaps his opponent got tired, it seems strange that a WFM wouldn't know how to defend that ending properly.
