Which elections are you referring to ? I've placed it on here because it's a natural follow-on from previous commentary on his circumstances.
I assume these : https://whocanivotefor.co.uk/person/348 ... ael-basman

"Michael Basman was an independent candidate in Chessington South in the Kingston upon Thames local election. Our volunteers have been adding information on Michael Basman - here's everything we know so far!"
A bankruptcy restrictions order was made against Mike in June 2018 for six years. This precludes him from being a local councillor, school governor and holding certain other positions. So he will not be standing for election.
I claim no expertise, but is he not permitted to stand for election? He couldn't take his seat, I agree, but can he not stand?

I'm wasn't sure either in response to Paul's post but I've now looked it up:-

You cannot be a candidate if at the time of your nomination and on polling day if you are the subject of a bankruptcy restrictions
order or interim order

In the Chessington South ward where Mike stood last time, the three winning candidates received 1,927 then 1,825 and 1,784 votes respectively. Mike received 109 votes and finished last of 11 candidates. I don't think that his chances of actually winning a local council seat as an independent are particularly realistic.

I don't think I contributed to it, but what a wonderful thread it was!

I can let you have Mike's mobile telephone number and then you can ask him yourself.
