Chess Junior Finals Day Brighton

Saturday 13 July 2013

Patcham Memorial Hall, Old London Road, Patcham, Brighton BN1 8XR

Timings: 12noon – 5pm

This event will be run under the supervision of ECF National Chess Coach Christopher Dunworth, and is the last of our regular events of the academic year.

Juniors can choose the type of chess that you wish to play – regular training tournament, swap chess, giveaway chess, progressive chess, and so on;

A Chess Variant is where you play with the normal pieces, moving in the normal way on the usual squares, but with different objectives or rules in place e.g.

• Giveaway Chess (The aim is to lose all of your pieces as quickly as possible)
• Progressive Chess (White has one move, black two, white three etc.)
• Swap Chess (Two teams of two players face each other on two boards. Captured pieces are passed to your partner to be used on their board. Recycling meets chess. Also known as Exchange chess, Siamese chess, Tandem chess, Transfer chess or Bughouse Chess) You can choose your partner for this competition.

Don’t forget a packed lunch and drink!
