Problem accessing dbase
I've tried with Firefox and I.E. last few days but can't get anything ("problem loading page" message) - is it me or the site?
cheers

Many thanks for the reply and info James - yes that's the site (I meant to put a link in my post but forgot) - I still can't access so it must be me - I'll investigate - I'm located in Australia but I can't imagine that would create problems of access. thanks again, kevin

Re: Problem accessing dbase
No signs of any issues here Kevin and internal reporting says full access for the last 15 days without even a blip on my side?kevin brown wrote:Many thanks for the reply and info James - yes that's the site (I meant to put a link in my post but forgot) - I still can't access so it must be me - I'll investigate - I'm located in Australia but I can't imagine that would create problems of access. thanks again, kevin
What are you trying to do and what errors are you getting?
On a side note why is it that interesting from Australia anyway?

Re: Problem accessing dbase
Try it now while you are logged in or give me an access time and I will look at the server logs

I can access your IP from the grading server via London, Los Angeles and then Australia - takes a while but it gets there

Re: Problem accessing dbase
Hi Carl
many thanks for the follow-ups.
firstly I have managed to gain access - I used a third-party site that gives a UK proxy ID and this worked immediately. Now I don't know whether that means I would continue to have trouble accessing from outside the UK but it does show that if anyone has a similar problem while abroad this should work (http://www.daveproxy.co.uk/ is what I used - found by a search - I'm not connected to them in any way nor wish to advertise them, that's just what I did).
secondly, I wanted to see if there was any record of me (rating-wise) - there isn't and this is hardly surprising as my UK rating days finished in the late 1970s!
The reason is that I plan to play again very sporadically in the UK over the next few years (outlined in a post in the Grading Debate section).
Thanks again for going to the trouble to follow up my query! cheers, kevin

Re: Problem accessing dbase
That does not make a lot of sense to be honest as there is no restrictions on use of the web site from anywhere, so it must be some sort of local issue at your end?kevin brown wrote:I used a third-party site that gives a UK proxy ID and this worked immediately.
Hard to test from here of course

Yes I agree it's a bit strange - I'm not knowledgeable enough to provide a good explanation so I agree I, I think it must be a local issue and nothing to do with the grading site - will let you know if I confirm this.Carl Hibbard wrote:That does not make a lot of sense to be honest as there is no restrictions on use of the web site from anywhere, so it must be some sort of local issue at your end?kevin brown wrote:I used a third-party site that gives a UK proxy ID and this worked immediately.

I provide that site, so why you can get to here but not there I am not sure - try this as I am keen to find out why:kevin brown wrote:Yes I agree it's a bit strange - I'm not knowledgeable enough to provide a good explanation so I agree I, I think it must be a local issue and nothing to do with the grading site - will let you know if I confirm this.

http://testgrading.bcfservices.org.uk/
Which of these 3 work directly?

Hi Carl
The first two sites replicate the problem - the browser looks for 30 seconds or so and then displays: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at [address of site]
However I can access the third site http://testgrading.bcfservices.org.uk with no problem
is there a logic to this?
cheers, kevin

No really no, can you get here without much issue as the equipment for here is roughly the same as the grading site?kevin brown wrote:is there a logic to this?
