Halfyearly Rapid Grades
Does anyone know when the January 2010 rapidplay grades will be available in the Online Grading Database?

I played 4 games in this list, all against juniors, scoring 2.5/4. Their average grade in the August 2009 list was 214.5 and their average grade in this list is 209. My grading performance for these 4 games is between 205 and 210.5(*), which means the average grade of my opponents used in the calculation was between 192.5 and 198.
(*) My new grade is 202 based on 23 games, so between 4635 and 4657 points in total. 19 games were from previous years and scored 3815 points, so the 4 new games must have been between 820 and 842 points.

Well done, Carl, and thank you.
I had promised the kids at school (RGS Newcastle) that I'd have their new grades for them after Christmas, and as we go back to school tomorrow it's just in time to save my life!

I think the juniors you've played are treated as ungraded. This makes it virtually impossible to predict your grade.Ian Thompson wrote:But is it right?Carl Hibbard wrote:That new list has just gone live

You're right that it makes it impossible to predict your grade, but it shouldn't prevent you from checking the calculation of your own new grade once you know what your opponents' new grades are. However, it does. Now I've got the graders' master list I think I can guess what has been done.Alex Holowczak wrote:I think the juniors you've played are treated as ungraded. One of my opponents had a published grade of 205 in August 2009 and has a published grade of 206 in January 2010, however his performance in the last 6 months was only 180.5 (by scoring 1/5/4 against adults with an average grade of 193). I suspect I have been credited with scoring 1.5/2 against a player graded 180.5, which would almost make the numbers add up.

Yes! I managed to get my grade up (slightly) and had to face quite alot of juniors along the route. Looks like these 'new' ratings are not such a bad thing after all...
Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.
