Michael Bent was one of England's most eminent study composers, a successful tennis player, collector of butterflies, composer of crosswords, keen stamp collector and keen wood carver.
He served in the Royal Navy but suffered from motion sickness.

Possibly the War Office archive could help or the Royal Navy College at Dartmouth?
We looked at every one of his BCM columns hoping for a thumbnail image : perhaps he was camera shy?
