What's the bottom "possible" win over Fischer all about?

John

Seeing your birthday tribute to James Sherwin made me wonder how many players are still alive who played Fischer one to one in tournament games. As well as Sherwin, I can think of Averbakh, Andersson, Olafsson, Hort, Kovacevic, Panno, Mecking, Hubner, Suttles, Penrose and Portisch and then I wondered if Aleksandr Matanovic was still alive. And there must be more. Please add some more.

Add to that list Quinteros, Naranja, Ivkov and Saidy. They came off the top of my head (with a quick check as to whether still living). I won't go trawling chessgames any further though.

Thanks, John. Clearly, I should have thought harder.

Svend Hamann and Shimon Kagan from Netanya 1968. I really didn't think there would be so many almost fifty years on. Any more?

I can't see any reason to suggest that Jose Luis Agdamus, who came last in Buenos Aires, is not still with us.

Similarly Bruno Parma, Bojan Kurajica, Vlatko Kovačević and Dražen Marović from Rovinj/Zagreb.

I did manage to get Kovacevic but well done with the others.

Chess Informant's account on Twitter posted a current photo of him just a few days ago.

Personally, would like him to at least see volume 150 (five more to go)
