I'm assuming the geographical location isn't the issue; I first went when it was at the Queen's Hotel next to Leeds railway station, and I also visited it a couple of times when it was in Halifax, though I've not been to the more recent locationLawrenceCooper wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 12:03 pmAdam's tournament organising has spread far and wide, not just in London.
That's a matter of opinion. I don't regret making my comments in a thread entitled "Event Cancellation"Angus French wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 12:18 amDavid, in that case would your comments have been better placed in a separate thread?
Allegedly they do. So far the ECF Board have not been willing to put that to the test.Nick Burrows wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 10:16 amDo they retain the right to call it a "British Championship" indefinitely ...
Perhaps someone might try to organise an event called the "Not the British Rapidplay Championships"NickFaulks wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 10:37 amMaybe an alternative will come forward for 2021. Three months of lead time is not ideal but might be sufficient.
This probably does need a separate thread, but I'm assuming there isn't a formal document such as the British Championship one you have referenced previously; that gives the ECF the rights to organise the British on behalf of the other chess nations, but presumably doesn't cover the RapidplayDavid Sedgwick wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 10:07 amThat's a matter of opinion. Once upon a time the British Rapidplay Championship used to be a tremendous event. Posts subsequent to mine indicate that I am far from being the only person who feels that the current offering, even pre-pandemic, is not worthy of the name.

The ECF have organised the UK Blitz twice in recent years and the British Blitz has been organised by Adam Raoof, myself and Ljubica Lazarevic (2003-2006) and possibly others (Alex Holowczak?).Mick Norris wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 11:09 amThis probably does need a separate thread, but I'm assuming there isn't a formal document such as the British Championship one you have referenced previously; that gives the ECF the rights to organise the British on behalf of the other chess nations, but presumably doesn't cover the RapidplayDavid Sedgwick wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 10:07 amThat's a matter of opinion. The Blitz seems to have been organised successfully; I think that was called the British too?
You are forgiven Ronnie. I'll let you off this time. I made a mistake by reporting the Gold Coast Open too late.Ronnie Burton wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 10:11 pmPlease ignore my post dates are for 2020 and dont know why didnot see this.
