"Peter Rowe has resigned as tournament organiser"

Peter did an absolutely fantastic job over many years and deserves to have a rest. This year was always in doubt of course. Maybe someone else will take on all the work, but they probably know how much he did and don't fancy it.

I'm afraid the Gold Coast Open 2021, that was due to take place from the 1st to 4th July in South-east Queensland, Australia was cancelled at short notice.
It was due to a local lockdown because of Covid-19.

Don't understand your posts about tournaments that have already been cancelled and you advise on this

Sorry Ronnie. Not my finest moment. I had a backlog of news to report to the forum. My phone ran out of data allowance. Anyway I am up and running again.
I have some good news to report about more clubs that reopened a few weeks ago and a couple of venue changes.
Sadly I have some you know whats to report in the Category that is two below.

I somehow managed to miss this news when it was first posted.

I don't have much to add to what Kevin and others have already said, but I will add my thanks to Peter Rowe (and previously Fred Hamperl) for all the hard work they did in making the tournament happen. I do hope it continues in 2022.

I'm just adding my voice to the others. I've always enjoyed playing in the Guernsey Chess Festival, not least because of the sterling efforts of Peter Rowe and Fred Hamperl. I too hope this isn't the end of a wonderful tournament.

I'm afraid the Bradford Chess Congress which normally takes place in mid September has been cancelled like last year.
This was posted on the website:
"Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2021 Bradford Chess Congress is unable to take place. We do expect the congress to be back up and running in 2022, so please keep an eye on the website for details."

The Torbay Chess Congress
Welcome to the website of the annual Torbay Chess Congress.

Covid-19 Update

With deep regret the 2021 Congress has been cancelled because of the ongoing implications of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On a positive note, we are planning to hold the 2022 Congress on Armistice weekend (11th - 13th November) at the Toorak Hotel, Torquay. We hope to start accepting entries for the 2022 Congress around the middle of 2022.

Sad news.
The British Rapidplay Chess Championships scheduled for 27th-28th November 2021 at Leeds Trinity University in Horsforth, Leeds, has been cancelled.
This was posted on their website:
"The same venue has been rebooked for 2022 on the same weekend in November (26th-27th November 2022). We are sorry it has come to this but there truly are circumstances beyond anyone's control."
