Carl

How about a forum devoted to fine/spectacular games such as the one below. 'Best of Chess' or somesuch title

SPLAT!!

Doubtless some folk will use the opportunity to publish their humdrum ego-wank win in the Much Piddling & District CL. But such posts can be chopped if not up to scratch. Mostly folk will find games like the one above, and bring them to collective attention

Not sure whether "splat" is the right word, but Sadler v Horton (no, not that Horton) from "round 5" of 4NCL, played just this last weekend, is certainly a game very far from the ordinary. Sadler has agreed with Danny G that it is his most Alpha Zero-like game yet and it is easy to see what they mean.

Lemme caution you all!

When the "secret agent who plots to usurp Alphaville's totalitarian supercomputer" starts acting as its poster boy you may begin to suspect an imposter.

Excellent game by Sadler.
I bought his book Chess for Life a couple of years ago at the Blackpool Chess Congress. He was playing and won it.
Anyway he and Natasha Regan both autographed the book for me and I had a nice conversation with them both.
Two very well mannered and pleasant people.

I quite like the game that gave Nepo the Russian Championship today, with a win from forum favourite

Dubov, Daniil vs Karjakin, Sergey

David Howell described it as the Game of the Year in his column in the Saturday Times a number of weeks ago, which a had an excellent lengthy write up about it.
It was played in the Russian Championship Superfinal in Moscow last year.

So after the first three moves, Black went ?, ok, ??, ?!, ?!, checkmate. These computers aren't easy to please.
