In other news we have received a challenge from Calderdale, to field a 10 board Winter Solstice(ish) Kirklees/HDCA team on the 21st December at the Piece Hall. This will be held outside NO MATTER THE WEATHER at the Wine Barrell. Challenge accepted and ping me if you want to take part.

Brilliant, I have been to the Piece Hall a lot this year, it struck me as an excellent venue for a chess match if it wasn't raining

I walked past the Wine Barrel yesterday

There's loads of outside space under cover with heaters, at a glance the tables and chairs looked suitable, they were all taken due to the Christmas Market at the Piece Hall which was very busy

The Market will be replaced by a big tent that acts as the venue for the Christmas events, no idea how noisy it will be when events in the tent are in full flow

Good to see my articles published on the Keddie Cup and Santa's visit to Meltham Chess Club within Chess Moves. Excellent to see chess thriving in the area and apologies to Dewsbury that I could not attend their Christmas bash yesterday.

The conclusion of the Keddie Cup saw our all junior team win it and leave a trail of bruised adult egos behind them. Well done to Isaac, Alex and Jacob. Thanks to all the players from Holmfirth, Honley, Huddersfield, Belgrave (Halifax) and Dewsbury who joined in.

The Calderdale Vs Kirklees match is rescheduled for Saturday 6th Jan OUTSIDE at the Wine Barrel, Piece Hall in Halifax. May the weather gods have mercy on us all and the outdoor heaters be in working order.
