I presume you meant play there No one gets paid to play in the Yorkshire league.

We'll have a good team vs Sheffield no doubt, and a live chance of winning that match. As will Hull to a slightly lesser extent and a few other teams as outside shots.

What I doubt either of us will be able to do is to keep up the pace vs the other teams. Hull of course have already drawn against Leeds. No disgrace there, Leeds have a very strong top three.

In the same way that York knew for years that we'd have most game points, Sheffield will this season. It won't be close. That gives them draw odds at worst in any head to head. York don't turn up having 'won' many matches in advance anymore Multiple very close matches in 2022/23, and no doubt more this season!

Having David Adams switch to playing (well of course!) online bridge after many decades left a huge hole.

If you wish to write more Mark please write it elsewhere. Please start your own thread outside of Yorkshire chess and post it on that. Or post it on your personal blog. It has already been made clear to you both by posters on the forum and also by Carl himself that your barely literate drivel is unwelcome.

I would suggest that you posted on the Facebook pages of some of the Yorkshire chess associations you play for but they have already banned you, haven't they?

It was. They're all living locally. I'd be amazed if there'd ever been a stronger board 8 in the Woodhouse than Jonathan Nelson last year too

As to why, who knows. Any more than why Sheffield has quite so many strong chess/bridge players when compared to (eg) Leeds/Bradford!

Well, in the postponed match York managed their third(!) 4.5 - 3.5 win against Harrogate in a row. It was a 'comfortable' 5-3 back in 2019. Our current team do actually seem to be good in close matches.

Harrogate had a good team for this match with Ther playing. So did York - Akis (board 8 for York) is one of the players who ended up heavily over/under graded due to random statistical clumping post Covid then not playing enough to catch up. Around 1950 in normal times.

No rest with the next round on Saturday - Sheffield travelling to Hull being the highlight match in the Woodhouse.

Harrogate vs Ilkley might, I suppose, qualify as some sort of a derby Golden triangle championship?!

The other postponed match played yesterday was Saltaire vs Meltham, two teams completely new to the league. So a very satisfying result to be able to enter, particularly with most of the Meltham team making their Yorkshire League debut.

I have offer to be stewarding on 30th Sep now... may have to take it yet still want to play Yorks league sometime...

I've had a look at quite a few results now...

And obvs with York it makes big difference when u have 3 IMs in your team... or when u don't

York still won though so that's main thing...

Division 1 does seem to be weaker on bottom boards than it used to be... I may be able to play for Hudds if wanted on bottom boards at some time...
