e2e4 Dublin Easter International takes place 28th March - 1st April 2013.

The Masters is a 9 round swiss that will offer players the opportunity to play stronger players and achieve GM & IM norms. e2e4 will invite at least 5 GMs to play. This was a great event last year, and is sure to be so again.

The Challengers is also a 7 round FIDE rated swiss open to players rated below 2000. The Major is also 7 rounds and open to players rated below 1750.

Discounted rates of €59 bed and breakfast (single occupancy) are available to chess players so why not book your Easter break now?

Full details are here, and online entry is availble here.

There seems to be a special deal on grading and membership. English, but not Irish or other nationalities are required to be members of the ECF, level unspecified. All sections will be included in the English grading system. On the face of it Irish, Welsh and Scottish players will have a concession, not available at Blackpool and Scarborough, that the organiser won't be charged an extra £ 6 if they aren't members of the ECF as well.

Not at all. The event is FIDE rated and we are applying ECF membership requirements. £6 pay to play doesn't apply to FIDE rated events. That's the same reason why Jersey is being ECF graded (for example) but some events in Scotland are not.

The word "Gold" has now appeared on the website.

It's rated, presumably, through the ICU, so ECF requirements for access to FIDE rating aren't relevant.

The lowest section isn't advertised as being FIDE rated, but is advertised as being ECF graded. Is there a new rule that Pay to Play doesn't apply if all English entrants are Gold members ? (not that you can define an English entrant without a FIDE registration scheme)

All 3 sections are FIDE rated. ECF requirements for FIDE rating are relevant because an oversesas event can be ECF graded rated if it applies the same ECF membership requirements as an event held in England would have to do. For FIDE rated events, that means ENG players must be Gold members. Dublin is doing that, and so is Jersey (for example).

We missed the word Gold when copying last years web page, but that has now been corrected.

Two weeks to go to Easter, so that means there are two weeks to go to the 2nd e2e4 Dublin Easter Congress. The event is sure to be an enjoyable one, and you can enter anytime this week without having to pay a late entry fee!

So why not look into those low cost flights, and get yourself booked in now!
