London Strategy Games Festival 29 June MSC

Post by John Foley » Fri May 16, 2025 5:36 pm

The London Strategy Games Festival will take place on Sunday 29 June at the MindSports Centre in Hammersmith. It will be an opportunity to learn and play some classic games, not least chess. Test your skills at some of the other fascinating games: bridge, go, hive, amazons, lines of action, abalone, othello, shogi and oware. Those with an interest in teaching chess will find some fascinating chess variants and several tried and tested classroom games.

We celebrate the rise of strategy games played on a tabletop. If you are curious about strategy games, then you can come along and learn from experts and play with like-minded participants. The event is open to all, from beginner to expert. All you need is an interest in games and a willingness to learn. Whether you are already a regular player, a parent or home schooler looking for suitable games, a teacher exploring classroom games, a retiree looking for a new hobby, or an events organiser looking for activities, there is something for you.

The event takes place across four rooms, each featuring a different strategy game at various time slots throughout the day. The meeting room will remain open for free play at all times. Demonstrators will introduce each game and may run multiple guided sessions during their slots, depending on their chosen format. Everyone is welcome, minimum age is 10.
