August Bank Holiday Congresses
I was considering playing in a congress over the next August Bank Holiday weekend, but looking at the ECF calendar the only scheduled standard play event is in Leyland, which is a bit too far from me.
Are there any missing from the ECF list? I recall pre-Covid often being spoilt for choice about which August Bank Holiday event to attend.

I have been told the Berks & Bucks congress will be going ahead (although a working website with entry details would be more reassuring).

That's useful to know - though having just got an error message when I clicked on the website, I feared the worst.Brendan O'Gorman wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 10:31 amI have been told the Berks & Bucks congress will be going ahead (although a working website with entry details would be more reassuring).

Has anyone contacted the organiser

to get the DB connection re-established for the website back-end?

I've sent an email to the email Liam uses for chess.
A bit weird posting his professional site John.

I enjoy being weird or wired.

Liam is working on the website. Nigel can add it to his diary in pen.
I think the small groups make it a good event although I rarely play. I am proud to say I did win one year. Apparently. I was chatting with someone and said that I never had, but was corrected by the defending champion. He demonstrated my name was engraved on the trophy at least.

I'll have a look round for you.
You do get a number of chess tournaments not posted on the ECF Calendar but posted on the websites of county associations, leagues and clubs.
Sometimes it is because numbers are restricted or the organiser has forgot to inform the ECF.
I have noticed though that website links from various clubs have not been changed when the website address has been changed, thus making it more difficult for me.

80 entries at the Berks and Bucks as of midnight on the 22nd.

I think it's likely to be three FIDE rated sections and two sections only ECF rated.

I am not an expert in such matters, but it appears to me from the information in this thread that the Berks and Bucks Congress is possibly not fully adhering to the DPA 2018!? The reason being that I am having to add security exceptions in my browser to view the site.
